i had high hopes for this october 31st. in my mind i pictured jameson and i dressing up as a cute couple idea. [finally a boyfriend to dress up with] well that didn't happen. every year i seem to always have a great costume in my head---> usually a month in advance. and then october flies by and halloween weekend i end up putting something [else] together. yep. happened last night. but actually jameson and i were still able to round up some costumes. i went as waldo and j went as a jabbawalkie... aka a dance crew from the show abdc. we went to a dance party and we had a GREAT time. check out the pics.

i have been 25 for almost [three] months

life as a 25 year old is GREAT

but life is going well

she has been there for nearly 3 months

we look forward to every letter, email, and phone call

we miss her

my parents have made two trips to salt lake recently

i am one lucky girl when they come around

they spoil me to the max

i love having them visit

we have a great time

we attended oktoberfest at snowbird mountain

it was a blast

we also were able to see the broadway show mary poppins

: we have been enjoying the fall weather

trying to take advantage of it all

i love utah in the fall

: trip to mesquite [with vegas included]

i went south with some friends

we spent time at the pool, shopping, and hanging out

great little vay-cay

: bear lake

a group of us managed to get up to bear lake for a weekend

it was very relaxing

we slept a lot

we ate a lot

we played lots of games

we shot guns

we took rides

we had a blast

I live in a good place.
[[ Salt Lake City ]]
Last night I was reminded why I love this place. It truly is a lovely place to call h.o.m.e for the time being.

It is the city where most of my best friends call home.
It is full of wonderful restaurants.
It is close enough to Twin Falls , ID (more important--my parents).
It sits in front of some of the best mountains.
It has 4 seasons.. Though winter over stays its welcome.
It provides endless entertainment.

So for now I'm very content with the great SLC.

it's about time i blogged

i know it has been a while

{so} much has happened as of lately

and i know that most of the people that read this have been a part of my summer happenings

---but---

i'll give an update

**photos mostly, because we all like those**

it made my day when my dad called me yesterday and told me

"you haven't updated your blog in a long time, you should do that...people follow it ya know."

so let's go back to the middle of june

(that seems like a good place to start)

ash -my sister- came to visit me in salt lake city

we had some fun filled summer nights

i love having her visit

i feel lucky when she comes around

we went out to dinner

we attended the farmers market

we hit up the utah arts festival with friends

then

her and i took off to zion national park

we needed some quality time in mother nature

we hiked angel's landing

it was her first time

talk about a pro

a view from the top

we had sunny weather

summer has been treating me well

we have had plenty of nights where we have been able to enjoy park time

hippy horse shoes has been a top memory

then at the end of june

i was able to head to logan for this girl's birthday

happy birthday to AMY

we played kickball and enjoyed a BBQ

what a fun time

i will never pass up a time to visit that favorite little town

then

the first weekend of july

i went to idaho for a great irons family get together

we went deep into the beautiful mountains to our cabin at warm lake

jameson joined us

i think he was impressed by idaho's beauty

we had a great weekend away from the real world

while we were there, we celebrated birthdays

july is a big month for our family

full of birthdays and anniversaries

my mom and dad did a great job planning

it was so beautiful up there

one of my most favorite places on this planet

then we made it back to slc for the 4th of july celebration

what a great holiday this is

i love fireworks

i am proud to be an american

so proud

this year we watched them from sugarhouse park

after a few days

i was off again

this time to minnesota

more lake time

more family time

ash got a harry potter cake for her b-day

grandma d always throws a great party

happy birthday to her

we also made bird cages with my grandparents

i love the lakes of minnesota

i have stayed in salt lake too

it is always fun to get together with friends downtown

plenty of summer dinner dates

i love patio dining

weekends = travel time

so we packed up and escaped on a trip to logan and bear lake

sunshine and summertime

amy was nice enough to have us all over

i can't believe how quick april came and went.
i am crossing off the 30th right now.

we got our fair share of "april showers" in slc.

i wasn't thrilled to see snow this week.

* amy's return [this girl and her husband return from their experience in europe in two short weeks.. may 13th needs to get here]

* clinicals [i am well into my nursing quarter, and to say that i'm "very busy" is an understatement. but every week i am working in the hospital as a nurse.. well alongside one]

* sister's graduation [my not-so-little sister graduates from college in two weeks... how is this possible? i am so proud of her]

* all together [we have a trip to minnesota with all my fam for her graduation... all aboard the irons and ganje family train]

* wedding [tess and kimball are tying the knot on the 21st. i can't wait to be a part of their big day]

* memorial day [i will be spending memorial day in the great state of idaho]

some great things are coming my way in may. what a fun month that i get to enjoy. now i just need some good weather. pretty flowers. and some sunshine.

this is the day:
- i eat lucky charms for breakfast

- the day where i am proud to have family from ireland

....but someday will.

last week i emailed some friends. i love hosting parties. i'm a party planner. i get joy from thinking of decorations, foods, themes, etc.

here are the details of my email:
-game- we will play a game.
-irish meal- i will have my grandma send me the dishes and recipes. every year her entire meal is 100 percent irish. we can modify the dishes or just make tons of GREEN treats. the traditional thing to make is corned beef and cabbage and both of those sound gross to me haha. we can go with irish stew. i thought this could be fun.
-irish jig- i propose that we learn an irish step dance on you tube.. and then we perform it. dead serious.
-wear green- everyone must be decked out in green.
-tunes- background music -will- consist of bagpipes.
-lesson- a little lesson on st. patrick himself. and an overview of where my ancestors lived in ireland.
-red hair- anyone with red hair is fully welcomed and embraced at our party.

all of these ideas sound great right?

[sunny weather]

yesterday was the most beautiful, sunny, warm day we have had so far in london! it was perfect! everyone comes out of the wood works on days like that here. i love it!

[walking the city of london]

i love walking everywhere! i love that i don't have a car. i have only wished for a car one time and that was when i went to the grocery store the first time and bought way too much. i spent the afternoon after the museum just walking around looking at different shops and checking out new restaurants to go to. i think my calves are getting stronger, haha jk! but that is possible with how much i walk. you should bring your pedometer when you come.

i bought some postcards yesterday and the guy at the store asked hesitantly if i was visiting and i said yes. then he asked where i was from... he couldn't tell that i was a "tourist" and thought i may have been from europe! i L.O.V.E being american but it's so fun to feel like i am blending into this life here.

critch got home at an abnormally early time yesterday... 7:30! which is still a long day but is great compared to what it usually is. we went on a walk down across the thames. it was so perfect! i LOVE this place! i really do... i wish i had a video camera rolling so i could share everything with you girls! it was so nice to enjoy the evening with christian! after the walk we went and tried this burger place called gourmet burger kitchen... it was sooo good! best burger i have had thus far in london. so if you are craving a burger while you are here, that is where we are going.

in utah, one generally meets other utahn or idahoan and then the occasional californian who has migrated to utah for some odd reason. in europe, however, you meet people from literally all over the world.

- what is it about europe?

- what is it about europe that compels me so?

well… (to name a few)

gargoyles, lederhosen, gondolas, cheese, baguettes, gelato, crepes, accents, ruins, museums, churches, trains, subways, buses, architecture, and fashion.

i'll admit to romanticizing europe as much as the next person.

[perhaps more than the next person]

since my childhood, i've been interested in the culture of europe - its history, style, literature, languages, myths, legends, philosophies, and patterns of thought.

then i got to L-I-V-E there.

a year ago {today} i moved to switzerland.

but we are in the process of getting her started

so i have included parts of her recent email for you to enjoy

I walked down to Trafalgar Square and checked out this wonderful place called the National Gallery. It was amazing... they have paintings by Michelangelo that aren't even finished (and of course there are many that are completed) It was cool to see how he did the painting in sections... we will have to go so you can see it! They have paintings from artists all over Western Europe that date back to the 1200's all the way up to about the 1900's. I was fascinated by all of it. We will have to make a little stop in there when you girls are here. Another great thing about it.... it was FREE! So I only spent about 45 minutes in there and didn't feel like I needed to spend my whole day there.

We have had three sun shine days this week. We have really had some great weather over here. The past 3 days have been beautiful to say the least! It makes it so easy and enjoyable to go out and just walk around.

I now know what it feels like to be a real wife that COOKS! I have loved every minute of it. I now have a new confidence in my ability to cook. All it takes is time and I have had plenty of that to make this possible. I go out every day and will usually be home by about 5 or 5:30 so that I can start something for dinner. It is hard because Christian has such random hours but I have been able to time it pretty well so far... I LOVE having a nice dinner ready when he comes home. It is crazy too because I think I have cooked as much in three weeks here as I did for the last 8 months in Logan.

We are going to Sloane Square when you girls get here! It is similar to Covent Garden but a little cooler! I love it! I just went down there on Tuesday to go through some of the stores and then enjoyed some pistachio gelato. It was a perfect little outing.

I love that we are having this experience together. I am so grateful for Christian and that he has allowed me to be here and to enjoy this place without worrying about work. He is working so hard and it makes me feel so bad but he never complains! He is so selfless and I am so lucky to have him.

body pump officially kicked my booty

last night i agreed to attend body pump class with my friend laura. i would say we are both athletic girls. i was a little hesitant at first but agreed to go because i knew it was a good class. plus we are members at 24 hour fitness and we need to be using our passes. i explained to her that it would be ok because we can control the amount of weight we use. i thought to myself, "perfect! i'll use the smallest amount possible! this won't be bad." when we got to class and started setting up our weights, of course, it was chaotic. who knew body pump class was in such demand in SLC? people were racing for spots.

{um not front and center for us. no thanks!}

for those of you that are not very familiar with body pump, let me explain. it’s an hour long class of strength training that works every muscle in your body. the instructor plays music [good music] and for each track, you work one muscle group. so really, that’s about 3-5 minutes on each! at first, it was a piece of cake... but once it got towards the second half of the class, my legs were shaking. especially during the single leg squats. i caught laura’s eye and we started laughing with this, “i am so screwed” look. don’t even get me started on the shoulder press workout. we {may} have dropped our 10 pound weights for the 2.5 pound dumbbells.

yep. no joke.

like i said earlier, we are athletic.... so i thought. but i really enjoyed the class, it gave me such a sense of accomplishment and made me feel so much better about myself after.

i wrote this post a long time ago.

who knows why i didn't post it.

writing makes me feel better. i think that's why [a lot] of people blog. sometimes i get asked, why do you blog? i usually answer with something random. but then i thought more about it. i think writing can be therapy. i believe this to be true. usually when i sit and type, my fingers move so fast that my brain cant get the ideas out fast enough. sometimes i cry, sometimes i smile, sometimes a luagh, and sometimes i feel like being silly. for me--- writing is: me + the paper (or the screen in this blogging world i live in.) it settles the mind. it is a de-stressor. it releases tension. it keeps my secrets safe. it is a mood-changer. it is an outlet. it is creative and curative. it is wonderful. so that is why i do it. to feel better. to log the special/crazy/funny/sad/adventurous moments in my life. to have something other than a journal to look back on. (photos galore) i know to some, blogging is silly and to others, well they feel the exact same as i do. so to whoever reads the stroies and random things i post, they will continue to be written.

growing up*

This was a year of growing up. 2010 started out with me moving across the world. The continents look a lot closer when looking at a school globe. Then back to Idaho for the summer. And then I moved to a new city. Salt Lake City, Utah. I was lucky to get a good job at the hospital. A real 40 hour a week job. I never thought I would live in Utah longer than my college years. But I have to say that Salt Lake has truly surprised me. Plus I live with an awesome roommate. I love her. We are working women. 9-5 making money.

europe*

Most of my top memories from 2010 stem from this place. It brought so much happiness into my life. I am so lucky that I was able to live in Switzerland and travel that continent as I pleased. Not everyone gets this chance. I am lucky to be that fortunate! I met the most amazing people and I will have some lifelong friendships.

traveling with my sister in ireland*

One of my top memories in life. It was truly amazing to travel this country with a backpack and my little sis. Though we are into our adult years, inside we are still the same little girls that loved to play babies, capture the flag, and dress up. It was so fun to be with her. We traveled that entire country. North, south, east, and west! I will never forget dancing to Irish music, or doing heel clicks in the alleys, or standing at the cliffs pretending we were the seagulls. I look up to her in so many ways. She is truly amazing in my eyes and I hope that I am as half as cool as her when we are older.

I got into a program in Salt Lake. I am very excited to be a nurse someday soon. I can’t wait of those two simple letters… r.n.

random roadtrips/trips*

I am lucky to have friends that love taking drives and random trips to who knows where. I had some fun mini trips in 2010. Northern Idaho, Mt. Rushmore, Florida, and St. George just to name a few. I love the bonds that you create on road trips. It’s probably due to the fact that you are in a tight closed space for many hours. So you rely on singing and conversing with your mates.

perspective*

When I graduated college, my sister gave me a small journal. The title on the front read, “She decided to start living the dream she’d imagined.” This was my motto in 2010. It truly was. From the moment January 1^st came, I knew I wanted to chase a dream. I think my perspective of myself and of the world is coming together. It has been constantly forming since my first year of college. It is now this great big web of thoughts, experiences, mottos, dreams, hopes, aspirations, and values. I am happy with it. I know there is room for more learning and changes, but I am happy with the outlook I currently have. 2010 really shaped this perspective.

My friends help make me Chelsea. I love them all dearly and I know that in life they truly are the chocolate chips. They are all so special in every way and I can’t wait for more memories in the years to come! (Europe 2011 will be a life TOP I’m sure) I know I have some special people in my life. Boys and girls. I love them dearly. If you are reading this… you are one of them! This year two gal pals tied the knot. Amy and Ash are taking a new path and are beautiful wives. Congrats to them! I am so happy that they are happy!

We were able to have lots of the “irons” side together for Thanksgiving. We had it at our home in TF, Id. Family is important to us Irons. Anytime we all get to be together we are laughing, telling stories, and playing games. It was a wonderful holiday season filled with old and new traditions. Talk about the best TG I have ever had.

12 months i made this baby last because i {love} it.

i squeezed it till there was no more.

it traveled with me all over Europe & when i lost my wallet, i still had my lip gloss.
